Brittany Sanders, DNP
Dr. Brittany Sanders is the Lead Nurse Practitioner at Jefferson County Department of Health Specialty Clinic in Birmingham, AL. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama, Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama. Dr. Sanders is a board-certified Adult-Gerontologic Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Sexual Health and infectious diseases. She is a published author of several articles discussing PrEP and chlamydia rescreening and has also developed educational materials for clinicians and STD/STI program personnel. Dr. Sanders is a member of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) HIV, STI, and Viral Hepatitis workgroup and a 2017 Fellow for the Engagement of Primary Care Providers in HIV Prevention and Care (Alabama AIDS Education and Training Center at Medical Advocacy and Outreach). Her clinical and research interests are promotion of sexual health, HIV prevention, and methods to increase PrEP uptake and adherence in high risk populations, especially Black women.
